Valdas Kavaliauskas has many years of experience in legal work. He began his legal career in 1998, studying at the Faculty of Law of Vilnius University, where he obtained a Master of Laws degree in 2000. For the past three years, Valdas Kavaliauskas has been specializing in migration and asylum law. In addition, he has gained extensive experience representing clients in various other legal matters: corporate, contract law, public procurement, etc. He has been a member of company boards and supervisory boards. He has worked in a state administrative institution, a commercial bank, biotechnology start-ups, and law firms. As a public procurement lawyer, he worked at the State Enterprise Lithuanian Monuments, the Lithuanian Council of Sciences, Vilnius University, and the Lithuanian Association of Research Libraries.

In addition to his main areas of legal practice, Valdas Kavaliauskas worked on Lithuanian biotechnology and medical projects: feasibility study for the establishment and development of a biobank in Lithuania; commercial feasibility study for UAB Lirema scientific research. He also conducted training in Lithuania in the field of medicine, public procurement and labor law. He participated in public procurement training in Lithuania, Spain, the Netherlands and competition law training in Finland, Estonia and Latvia.
